The program also provides VCMC students with the training and knowledge to work as a Health Claims Examiner for insurance companies. Medical Billing and Coding students will be exposed to billing forms, and eligibility guidelines for CHAMPVA, TRICARE, Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, and Workmans’ Compensation and Disability.

VCMC students will learn the use, of ICD-10 and CPT books, for coding diagnoses and procedures. Students will use computers, to practice and perform medical billing simulations, using Medi-Soft.

The Medical Billing and Coding program (medical biller) at VCMC is designed to teach our students medical office duties, computer applications, office procedures, insurance coding, business communications skills, job readiness techniques, and personal development skills. The objective, of a Medical Biller & Coder, is to expertly take care of all of the administrative responsibilities of the medical employer. Medical Billing and Coding is a great career choice, for women and men, who wish to pursue a career in a medical environment. This is an exciting field, with a high demand for employment, along with exponential growth potential.
